FAQs

  • A “boon” is a thing that’s helpful or beneficial. But beyond that “BOON” is our acronym for “Born Out Of Necessity.”

  • Anyone who influences the faith of Black youth (birth to 19 years old).

We call them, “faith influencers:” The aunties, barbers, teachers, coaches, youth pastors, neighbors, and anyone else helping Black youth explore, question, and grow in their faith, formally or informally, through what they say and how they live.

  • BOON is a village for the Village.
We equip the people who disciple Black youth (birth to 19 years old) — parents, pastors, mentors, educators, and community leaders — with the tools, language, and insight to do it with depth, care, and cultural integrity.

    We do this by:

    • Cultivating community among faith influencers

    • Creating resources that make theology practical and faith development real for Black youth

    • Advancing scholarship in the discipleship of Black children and teens — work that hasn’t existed at this depth before

BOON makes theology practical, culture sacred, and community the strategy.

  • If you care about the faith and future of Black youth, BOON exists to support you.

Whether you're a parent, pastor, youth leader, mentor, educator, or coach — you’re a faith influencer. And we’re here to help you disciple the next generation with wisdom, cultural awareness, and spiritual depth.

    BOON can help you:

    • Find community with others who care about Black youth like you do

    • Access resources that make theology practical, relatable, and real

    • Learn strategies for engaging Black youth in ways that reflect their lived experiences

    • Grow as a leader through coaching, research, and collaborative learning

    • Be affirmed in your role and better equipped to support the young people you serve

At BOON, we don’t just care about how to disciple; we care about those doing the discipling.
